Garry's passion for carving all started with a purchase. In 1970, while living in Long Island and working construction, he acquired the stylized bird head carved from a whale tooth by Ken Sprague of Long Island N.Y, pictured above. Not long after purchasing the whale tooth, he began carving. Garry started in bone and wood and within two years, he had carved a bird head equal to the one he had purchased.
Not long after that, Garry moved to Virginia to a farm south of Charlottesville Virginia where he began carving full time. In his pursuit for artistic experience, he experimented with a wide range of materials. These include bone, ivory, walrus tooth, prehistoric mammoth ivory, stone, wood, steel, gem stone, shell and meteorite. The subjects were as diverse as the materials he used and were always worked in a realistic style. He carved sculptures for 20 years.

After years of carving in solid materials, Garry moved to New Jersey to learn custom wax design for jewelry making. Garry soon approached local jewelry stores for custom wax designs. To perfect his wax carving techniques, he would work and rework the design until he was satisfied. After five years in New Jersey, Garry moved back to Virginia, where he works on custom commissions, and sells at local art shows.
All designs are unique, one of a kind, using the lost wax casting process.
All pieces can be reproduced in a variety of materials.
